Design
We are pleased to offer our new “2016” type Supercharger Systems for the Jeep 4.0. Our XJ systems fit 1991 to 2001 Cherokees. Five million 4.0 engines have been manufactured. It is a perfect candidate for a supercharger system like ours.
We use re-purposed Eaton Gen IV M90 superchargers. These were used by General Motors on the 3.8 Liter V6 engines from the late 90’s to early 2000’s. It is a true “original equipment” supercharger that has factory engineering and testing and will work in any climate. Hundreds of thousands of Eaton M90 supercharged vehicles were sold. Eaton still sells later version of this supercharger on today’s performance vehicles.
Build
We begin by disassembling the supercharger unit. Then we inspect, clean, and replace all necessary parts. We always replace the front bearing, coupler, and seal. This is an easily-serviced unit, not a complicated high-priced after-market supercharger. It will tolerate hard service. It will not self-destruct if a piece of dirt larger than .003″ enters it. It will not seize up if the temperature drops below -20 F. It is the perfect unit for the Jeep after-market.
Our Chief Design Engineer has been involved in the design of most of the current Jeep supercharger systems on the market. This gives us the knowledge of what works and what doesn’t. This cumulative knowledge and experience gives our customers the best Jeep 4.0 system made. We use CNC-machined 6061 Aluminum for our major components. Our design consists of a five bolt supercharger-to-manifold adapter (for the Top Mount kit), or our custom intake manifold (for the Side Mount kit) and a .5″ thick supercharger nose support for additional rigidity and strength. This attaches to the front of the power steering pump using the three bolts Jeep uses to secure the pump. Also used is the brace that ties the pump to the side of the engine. Our idler pulley arrangement gives us over 270 degrees of belt wrap on both the power steering pump and the supercharger (important if you have big tires).
Install
Our systems are easy to install.
Top Mount: No manifold changes. Simply, remove the throttle body and build up from there, one piece at a time. Removing the throttle body is as deep as you go into the engine.
Side Mount: Install our intake manifold, and build out from there, one piece at a time. Removing the intake manifold is as deep as you go into the engine.
Our fuel system is a ‘plug-and-play’ setup as well. We use a 7th fuel injector to achieve fuel enrichment. The fuel enters the supercharger and is immediately vaporized. This provides good fuel distribution and more importantly, it dramatically cools the discharge temperature. We have seen 40 to 50 degree F drops. This allows us to add power, safely.
Tuning
We work directly with Split Second Tuning to manufacture our tuners. We designed and manufacture the key plastic parts to allow a true ‘plug and play’ tuner install. Both Split Second and Boosted Technologies have spend hundreds of hours developing this process. Our components read both the inlet and discharge pressures in the manifold so we can accurately add fuel and adjust timing to your jeep engine. We do not adjust the factory tables while your engine is not under boost. Chrysler knows what they are doing. We only make changes when boost is added.
Intake
We know many of you have added some sort of aftermarket air filter system. The factory plastic pipe that connects the air box to the throttle body is restrictive. It was designed for low speed torque. We supply an aluminum allow 2.5″ pipe that allows unrestricted access to your factory air box. It is not restrictive and the factory air box does a great job of filtering the air entering the supercharger.
Expectations
A tremendous increase in torque at low RPMs, great driveability, the ability to cruise at highway speeds in higher gears, the ability to actually pass vehicles you never could before, ease of installation, no permanent modification to major components, ability to quickly return the vehicle to stock, ability to easily transfer the system to another Cherokee, plus one of the best warranties in the supercharger business!

Completely stock EFI settings and function when not in boost
7th injector, 60lbs/hr, provides additional fuel under boost and liquid intercooling effect
Split Second FTC controls boost timing retard and auxiliary 7th injector control
FTC is fully laptop programmable
FTC comes with base tune pre-loaded
FTC clamps MAP sensor to prevent CEL’s
Split Second FTC must be spliced into your jeep’s existing wiring harness
When you look at the dyno charts, if you look for peak numbers alone, you are cheating yourself. The peak numbers only occur in a small time window, at exact RPMs. What really matters is the difference in HP and Torque over the RPM range. That is what you feel when you drive. Think about it this way: Would you rather have 50 more HP for a split second, or would you rather have 50 HP throughout most of your RPM range? Just keep that in mind when comparing dyno numbers, so you make an informed decision. If you would like any further explanation or have any questions, just let us know!
